The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)
School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA)
Reports directly to the Western Australian Government Minister for Education and Training and is responsible for:
- establishing standards of achievement, curriculum Kindergarten to Year 12, year level
- syllabuses Pre-Primary to Year 10 and course syllabuses Year 11 and 12
- administering national testing – NAPLAN
- administering Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment
- Year 12 ATAR external examinations ( WACE Examination)
- Year 12 certification (WACE)
The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) requirements
Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking (ATAR)
- Used for university entry in Australia and is recognised by universities nationally and internationally.
- Calculated on best four ATAR course combined scores.
- Combined score weighting = 50% moderated school mark + 50% ATAR examination mark.
- Calculated by the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC).
