Gregory Colin Mowday B.Ed.  M.Ed.



Mr. Gregory C. Mowday is a native of Western Australia. He has over thirty years of teaching experience with seven years as a school principal and three years as educational consultant for a leading educational provider in Indonesia.
He obtained his B.Ed and Diploma in Education from Edith Cowan University, Perth and M.Ed. from Curtin University in addition to getting various academic awards.
After graduating from university in 1981 he entered the Western Australian public teaching service working for six years as a teacher of history, geography and mathematics, and served as a House Master for two years. From there he entered the independent school system and taught for the next three years at Wesley College, Perth where apart from teaching he was appointed House Master and served on numerous representative committees.
In 1991 he was appointed to John Wollaston Anglican School in Perth as Head of Society and Environment where he also took on a number of roles including Dean of Students and Acting Deputy Principal.
In 1998 he was appointed Foundation Principal of a newly-established school in Indonesia that was preparing students for the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). While serving as Principal it was decided that the school would engage the International Baccalaureate Organization’s “Primary Years”, “Middle Years” and “Diploma’ programs and these three programs were implemented into the school by 2008. During this time the school grew from 200 to 1,250 students; became an IBO “World School” and was one of only a few Indonesian national schools to achieve international school status. 
In 2008, he was appointed to the Board of Management of his Indonesian employer and served as Education Consultant to the Board with the broad brief to oversee the establishment of a new school, and develop and provide professional learning to the organization’s schools and university.    
Upon his return to Perth. he worked with Edith Cowan University for the Faculty of Education and Arts on various research projects including remote and rural schooling, assessment, and distributed leadership. In addition, he has lectured post-graduate and under-graduate students in education, and delivered workshops to Master of Education students in educational leadership.

A family man, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Jenny, and their three children; Joel, a sports medicine consultant; Claire, well-travelled high school teacher; and Hannah who will enter university in 2012 after her completion of WACE examinations in 2011. His other  interests include travel, golf, football and cricket.  He is joining AusIS  from January 2012.
